Providing Treatment To Patients In & Around San Antonio, Stone Oak, & Universal City

At UC Smiles Orthodontics, we understand that there are a wide variety of needs when it comes to orthodontic treatment, and no two patients are the same. As such, we are proud to offer multiple types of braces, each of which have different advantages that Dr. Bebe will help you take into consideration. While it’s a good idea to get an overview of each of these treatments prior to coming into our orthodontic office, Dr. Bebe will ultimately determine which treatments are going to be the most effective for you.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most popular treatment, and over time, they have gotten more compact and efficient. At UC Smiles Orthodontics, we use stainless steel metal brackets, making the braces sturdy and reliable. Brackets are connected with thin archwire, which is what moves your teeth into their proper positions. While traditional metal braces are known for being painful and inconvenient, advancements in technology have made this treatment more comfortable than ever before.

Ceramic Braces

Patients who prefer a less noticeable method of teeth straightening may choose ceramic braces. Unlike the traditional metal option, these brackets are clear and blend into the natural shade of the teeth. Many adults choose to pursue this treatment, as they are visually pleasing and a less obvious treatment option. With these advantages, however, comes a few disadvantages, including:

  • Less durability than metal
  • Higher likelihood of broken brackets
  • Discoloration of elastic ties between visits

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are the most discreet form of orthodontic treatment, as they are completely clear. These aligners are custom made for each individual patient, and effectively move the teeth without the use of brackets, wires, elastic, or any metal. Clear aligners are perfect for patients who want to undergo orthodontic treatment without any restrictions on diet, as these trays are completely removable.
